Creativity comes one discovery at a time. My optimal creative hours come early in the morning after sleep. I first woke around 3:45am today with no intention to get up at that time (I do still need to put in a full day's work elsewhere). Then I thought about what today's post might be, in keeping with the direction of this website - the logging of the daily creative work of my life as an artist. By 4:15 am I already had a creative discovery that grew out of a technical challenge. The app I was using to edit is not very sophisticated; It's just what I have on my phone. It's a good phone, but it's a phone. I work with what I have. I went to Instagram with a visual idea to post but I soon realized it was not going to work as planned. Instead, I discovered that there was an interface of sorts going on between the two apps. With myself as the go between; I just had to recognize what was happening. I had gone back to Instagram to attempt my plan "B" but ended up with a better unforeseen plan "C" - Ideas I was editing in one place were going directly to a holding place in Instagram for me to manipulate as needed. I made my notes and will experiment further, seeing if I can duplicate, but as with any recipe if one ingredient is missing that can affect everything. In the end, there were less steps than I was previously preparing to take to get to a better result. When best plans fail sometimes there is a greater discovery waiting. Are you ready for your next great mistake!
