Service, or at least personalized service seems to be a thing of the past. I miss it, and because I know what I am missing the challenging part of establishing an online presence, setting up website services, domain name, business email etc., is learning to deal with those interactions with automated telephone services when things don't go smoothly.
Today's artist must be competitive although competition in a business sense is not typically the artist's trademark - and speaking of trademark it wouldn't hurt to have one - an image, a brand, an online presence for lack of face to face interaction...something to connect to - that is then incorporated into the "unboxing" experience in some way.
This article on e-commerce by Richard Lazazzera reminded me of the importance of presentation. He brings the practice and the practical into packaging.
